Little Beach Makena State Park
Makena State Park consists of 3 beaches Big Beach, Little Beach and One'uli (Black Sand) Beach.
Big Beach is the longest beach in Hawaii and one of the most popular. With plenty of shade and a sandy sea bottom, it is great for swimmers and surfers. Snorkeling is not good here as the shoreline is too cloudy and the current too strong further out. A short hike to the north end will take you to Little Beach.
Little Beach is a popular "Warning" nude beach so don't plan on a family trip (unless your family are all nudists). This is a nice secluded beach perfect for basking in the sun.some snorkeling when water calm.
One'uli (Black Sand Beach) is located on the Wailea side of the cinder cone (north of Little Beach). The dirt road to parking can get flooded and muddy. Black sand with lava at the shoreline. A good spot for divers and experienced snorkelers. This is is one of the more secluded beaches, so if peace and quiet are what you are after, this is the perfect beach.

For Big and Little Beach head south on Piilani Hwy. Turn Right onto Wailea Ike Rd.. (Piilani Hwy Dead ends here). Turn left at Wailea Alanui (1 mile). Continue Makena Alanui for 2.6 miles. Slight left onto Makena Rd. In about .37 mile look for Makena State Park sign on the right. Before Big beach at .26 look to the left for dirt road that will take you to Black Sand Beach . - Parking
For Big and Little Beach the very large parking lot can fill up as this is a very popular spot in the afternoon. For Black Sand Beach follow the winding dirt road to the end. The dirt road does wash out with heavy rains. - Rest rooms

Big and Little Beach great beach for families, swimming, surfing and relaxing. Black Sand Beach good for snorkeling, peace and quiet.
