Maui Tropical Flowers

Maui has 17 of the 20 known worldwide climate zones, so you can grow just about any kind of flower that exists. Many tropical flowers from all over the world are here including protea from Africa .Because Maui is such a tropical paradise for plants, many of the non-native plants brought here have gone wild, so not all flowers shown here are native to Maui or Hawaii.
The yellow hibiscus (shown left) became the Official Hawaii State flower in 1988.Maui recognizes the Locality rose (Maui Rose) as the official island flower.

Images were taken in Maui's botanical gardens, hiking trails, beaches, and along the side of the road. I have tried to identify most of the plants. If they are not correct please Email me with correct info.

Kula Botanical Gardens

Kula Botanical Garden is located in the foothills of Haleakala and contains 8 acres of colorful and unique plants, amazing rock formations, a covered bridge, waterfalls, koi pond, aviary, orchid garden and new attractions including the carved tiki exhibit. There are hundreds of plants for you to enjoy and photograph. Plants are labeled with their botanical name, common name, and country of origin. The garden showcases a collection of native Hawaiian plants. We enjoyed the chameleon and the native Nene geese. The trails and map were easy to navigate and travel.More Kula garden Information...

Enchanting Floral Garden

Enchanting Gardens is located in the town of Kula. This beautiful garden has over 1500 species of tropical plants and flowers from around the world. The 45 minute walk is on a nice level asphalt path. A great easy hike for all ages. The grounds open at 10.00 am and cost 7.50 per adult (children under 12 free).More Enchaanting Garden Information

Garden of Eden

The Garden of Eden is located on the Road to Hana about .5 miles past mile marker 10. Look for the sign on the right . The garden is spread over 26 acres with 2.7 miles of trails. The trails will take you through Lush gardens, a bamboo forest, 100 year old mango tree, picnic spots, waterfalls & coastal views. You can get food and refreshments at the beginning of the park and drive up to the gift shop along the way .There is even a pretty duck pond where you can feed the birds including wild peacocks .. Maui Tropical Plantation

The Maui Tropical Plantation is located off of Honoapiilani Highway in Wailuku. This is a working plantation which produces sugar cane, macadamia nuts, coconuts, pineapples, mangos, coffee, and much more. In the center is a botanical garden with a lake. You can take a train that tours the entire plantation, stopping along the way for a coconut cutting demonstration and information. The huge store/gift shop sells all of the products grown at the plantation. This is a fun place for families and couples. More Tropical Plantation Information

Road to Hana
