5 Caves 5 Graves Snorkeling Information
It is best to reach 5 caves 5 graves by boat / kayak, but if you are a strong swimmer just head north from Makena Landing around the point. This is a popular dive spot because of the underwater caves and Arches Don't be surprised if you run into reef sharks at the 1st cave. Be careful not to disturb the sandy / silt bottom and scare them away. There are plenty of kayak and diving tours if you would rather go in a group.

Directions: Head south on Piilani Hwy. Turn Right onto Wailea Ike Rd. (Piilani Hwy Dead ends here). Turn left at Wailea Alanui (1 mile). Continue Wailea Alanui which becomes Makena Road. Continue on Makena Rd. Turn right in about 1/2 mile to stay on Makena Road. Continue about a 200 feet till you spot the graves on the right and park on the side of the road. You can also continue further down and park at Makena Landing. You will have a longer swim with plenty to view.
Parking: After parking to the side of the road follow the trail down to the water entry. If you park at Makena Landing. Enter water at shore and follow the reef to the right ( it takes about 20 minutes)
Rest rooms: At Makena Landing by the beach there rest rooms with running water.
Where to snorkel: The entire area has plenty of coral, caves, fish, and an abundance of sea turtles. There is even a turtle cleaning station further out to sea.
What to look for: You will find large turtles, plenty of fish, octopus, eels, and reef shark. The underwater arches and caves make this a popular dive spot.
Other Info: This area is recommended for experienced snorkelers and swimmers due to currents, rocky shoreline, and distance to swim. Kayak tours are also available to get you there easily.
